2004 Recipients
Our 2004 group of high school seniors and college students were not only academically minded, but outstanding citizens and positive influences and role models among young adults in their communities. Scholarship recipients are featured below and were formally presented with their scholarships on May 17, 2004 during the 50th Anniversary of Brown vs. Board of Education Recognition Luncheon. The 2004 Treasure Valley NAACP Scholarship recipients are:

Capree Bell

Recently described by one of her honors programs instructors as “one of those rare people who seem to have it all”, in the sense that she excels in everything she sets her mind to, high school senior Capree Bell is indeed an outstanding individual with a tremendous future ahead of her. Her Sr. Assistant Principal at Centennial High School, Jan Solberg shared that “ Capree is self-motivated, a great role model a wonderful representative of our youth who is caring, responsible, honest and a true leader”.
Capree’s list of accomplishes includes, but are certainly not limited to:
- 3.9 GPA
- Named Idaho’s Top Scholar
- Accomplished varsity athlete (basketball, swimming and track & field)
- Governor at Idaho Girls State
- Proven leadership: elected Governor of Idaho Girls State, National Honor Society, Key Club, National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine,
- Strong Community Ties: Elementary school tutor, Sunday school teacher, Woman’s Fitness Celebration Volunteer

| Higher Education Goals and future plans: Attend a four-year university and study Information Technology and Business Management in order to become the CEO of a technology company. All in hopes of creating better products and striving for advancements in technology for a more efficient world. |
| The Treasure Valley NAACP Education Committee is honored to present Capree Bell as a Micron Technology Society of Treasure Valley Scholars. Her scholarship is in the amount of $2,000. |
Kim Gulley

Reliable, disciplined, focused and strong work ethics are just a few words used to describe Kim Gulley. As a senior at Mountain Home High School and a positive force in the community, Kim has demonstrated and proven her goal-oriented nature by excelling in the classroom, on the court as well as in the community. Kim is an honor student maintaining a 3.7 GPA, a varsity letterman in basketball and volleyball and very active the communities she lives in and has lived in. Kim comes from a military family. As such, she has had the benefit of living in various countries and interacting with different people of various cultures. Whether its volunteering her time to paint the Mountain Home Senior Citizen Center, participating in the Air Force Appreciation Day parade, or taking part in a Christmas part celebration for a children’s orphanage in Korea, Kim approaches all aspects in her life with the seriousness in which she approached her academic career.
A few of Kim’s accomplishments include:
- Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year (accepted the award in the our nation’s capital, Washington DC)
- National Honor Society
- Coaches Award – Varsity Volleyball (two consecutives years)
- Youth usher in her church
- Most Improved Player Award –Varsity Basketball

| Higher Education Goals and future plans: Attend California Baptist University and major in Kinesiology. Ultimately Kim would like to become a personal trainer, own her own workout facility in hopes of helping people combat obesity. |

Krystal McCree

We are very pleased to be able to present Ms. Krystal McCree with one this year’s scholarships. Krystal is a positive role model in the classroom, in the athletic arena and in the community. We are particularly proud of Krystal’s accomplishments because she has successful managed her learning disable, dyslexia; it has not been a disability for Krystal, but a challenge in ability. With a can-do positive attitude and very focused, hard work towards academics, Krystal graduated Timberline High School with a 3.5 GPA and is now attending Treasure Valley Community College with a 2.8 GPA. Krystal attributes her successes in the classroom and on the track field with her strong faith in God and support from immediate family and church family.

- Earning her certified nurses aid certificate
- Student-Athlete Varsity Letterman Awards
- Top Community Volunteer
- Youth assistant choir director – St. Paul’s Baptist Church
- Member of Adult choir- St. Paul’s Baptist Church

Daunielle Williams

Daunielle is an all-round wonderful student in that she has worked diligently to balance school, athletics community projects and family. She is currently a senior at Bishop Kelly High School and a member of the varsity basketball team and strong contributor to community service. One of Dauielle’s requirements of attending Bishop Kelly is earning service hours. Due to her sincere desire to help others, Daunielle has far surpassed the required number of service hours. This is one more testament to her strong character and committee to putting others first. Daunielle is fluent in Spanish with four years of studies. Daunielle maintains a 2.8 GPA. One of Daunielle’s proudest moments was when a parent expressed to her how nice it was for her own daughter to have a positive minority influence and role model in a our community.
Several of Daunielle’s accomplishments include:
- Outstanding Student Award in Spanish
- 1st Team All-State Basketball Player Award 3 consecutive years
- Co-captain of the varsity basketball team
- YMCA volunteer
- Coach for 8th grade girl’s basketball team

| Higher Education Goals and future plans: Plans to a four-year university and major in Biology and/or Liberal Arts and minor in Spanish. After college she plans to work with non-profit organizations in developing counties (Latin nations) and teach English. After which she plans to focus in the field of medical science. |
